Rumors start flying about Sadako’s new friends claiming that Yano’s been around the block and Yoshida’s a former gang member. And the source of all this tattle? Sadako herself! Will Sadako retreat to her former life as a loner because of a simple misunderstand?!
– Summary of Kimi ni Todoke Volume 2
Kimi ni Todoke is no stranger to a lot of shoujo anime and manga fans out there. It has established itself as one of the best shoujo material there is at the moment. Sweet, fluffy and filled with heartwarming stories, Kimi ni Todoke has earned itself a good place in hearts of many fans including myself. If you haven’t heard of this title, please allow me to briefly tell what Kimi ni Todoke is about.
(Turn the copy of my manga to the back and began to type…)
Sawako Kuronuma is the perfert heroine…for a horror movie. With striking similarities to a haunting movie character – jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor – she’s mistakenly called Sadako by those around her. But behind her scary facade is a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to fit in, all she wants to do is mkae some friends. But then the most poplar boy in class befriends her, she’s sure to make more than just that – she’s about to make some enemies too!
As the title reads, this post is part of a blog carnival, baby. The carnival starts today, 9th January till 15th January. This blog carnival, hosted by du5k, is a collaboration of posts by 14 different bloggers on the topic “What Makes A 10/10 Anime?”
*throwing confetti* Now let the party begins!
Alrighty. It’s the end of 2011. Do you know what this means? It’s time for my personal list of best anime in 2011. This list contains anime that has completed its run within Winter 2011, Spring 2011, Summer 2011 and Fall 2011. Of course, it has to be an anime that I’ve seen. And that also means any other anime that I saw this year but did not debut and complete or complete (debuted in Fall 2010) within those periods are not taken into consideration. As always, I’ll list out only five on my very short list. The reasons for the very short list are 1) I don’t have a long list of anime to pick from and 2) I only make sure the ones I really, really like make the list.
*Drum Rolls* Hoshiko’s best anime of 2011 is….
I’m sure any anime fans will have at least one anime that they will watch over and over again and never get tired of it. I have a few, and I’m here to share with you my list. Bear in mind that I’m pretty new in the anime scene so there are still a lot of major titles that I’ve yet to see. Even so, within the titles I’ve seen to date there are a few favorites that I can watch whole day and whole night and then another whole day and whole night and another and another….I think you get my point now.
So let’s get down to business.
If you follow me on my Twitter, then you’d probably remember that I tweeted if I should watch the live action movie of Kimi ni Todoke. That was a few weeks back. Just recently, however, I finally managed to squeeze in the almost two hours movie into my schedule.
I can’t say that I enjoy the movie as much as I did with anime/manga. Actually, it felt odd. It’s not the first time I see a Japanese movie but it’s a first time for me to see an adaptation of a title of which its anime version I already saw. I kept telling myself that I shouldn’t be comparing the movie and the anime at all. There will be differences due to many factors such as time constraint among others. Unfortunately for me, I kept referencing it with the anime. That made the experience a little less enjoyable.
After following the series religious for about 12 weeks, Kimi ni Todoke has now wrapped up for its second season. Since the manga is still ongoing, we might get a third season. That’ll be great as usual. I’ll always watch Kimi ni Todoke anime series.
