Hai to Gensou no Grimgar: Mourning Manato

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar

For those who are already watching Hai to Gensou no Grimgar, we all learned about the unexpected death of Manato several episodes ago. Several episodes later, Manato is still very much present in the series, in the hearts of his beloved comrades.

When it comes to death in anime, I can’t help but being reminded of the many deaths in Akame ga Kill.  Unlike Grimgar, the characters in that series seem to be dying for shock value rather than as plot device. And the characters who died are easily replaced by another new member and quickly vanished from the minds of viewers.

I believe this is where Grimgar excels.

The Guessing Game

With Naruto’s and Bleach’s manga taking surprising (for some) turns and whatnot, my friends are starting up all sorts of discussions trying to determine the story behind all those revelations and more. What they’ll do is try to recall as much information as they can and then begin to make theories of their own. Basically, what they’re trying to do is to uncover the truth before the answer is revealed by the author of the series.

It was all fun at first, but I’m beginning to feel tired after a while. No, it’s not because my theories are always wrong (which they are ALWAYS wrong). But I no longer see the reason behind what I call as “The Guessing Game”.

The Other Self

There were many times I question if it’s possible that there’s another personality lurking inside me that I’m not conscious about. Don’t worry, I’m not talking about anything really serious here. Just a random thought that popped up in my mind in this ridiculously warm evening and would love to share my thoughts here.

Now, have you ever wonder if there’s this other self within you? Are you aware of your other self?

Bleach Movie 4: The Hell Chapter

I haven’t been following Bleach anime for a few months already, and it was only fairly recent that I’ve picked up the manga series again after dropping it months back. When it comes to Bleach, the things I like most are the character style and overall vibe of the series – the modern feel, the coolness of some of the major characters. The story not so much. Anyway, I decided to watch the movie a few weeks ago. That should be fun.

Instead of writing about the movie, I’ll list down the thoughts I’ve jotted down as I was watching it. A different way of telling what I think about the series! By the way, it’s spoiler-ish.

A Stronger Naruto Now

Nothing is boring in Naruto these days. Ever since the war started in manga, new discoveries and suspense dominated much of the chapters. This week, we finally get to see just how much Naruto has grown since his fight with Pain.

Let’s talk a walk down the memory lane and see just how much Naruto has grown since day one.

He pretty much sucked at his now well used technique. This was Naruto’s level of skill way back in the days. I think I’ve seen worse clones from him. This was the only picture I could find from the Internet.

Driven to succeed, he honed his skills and mastered several other techniques along the way.

Bootleg Trouble

I don’t know about you but for me, I love good deals. Sometime ago, I was hunting for a Kurosaki Ichigo’s figure. To be more specific, I was hunting for this. A MegaHouse 1/8 scale figure. I saw it at a few local toy stores and boy, it’s expensive. It costs about 150rm-200rm. That’s a lot – about my monthly lunch expenses. So I hesitated.

Then, I was browsing a Malaysian-based online auction website and lo and behold, I saw the very same model selling at half the price. You see, I was basically a noob at the time. I never suspected anything fishy going on. It’s normal to see something selling at a cheaper price online. Besides, I was just starting to collect figures and wasn’t familiar with “the scene”. Soooo….I didn’t know it was a bootleg. The seller conveniently neglected to tell me.
