Some Thoughts on UN-GO Prequel

If you have been following this blog, then you know that I’ve been waiting to watch this episode for a long time. The time has finally come, ladies and gentlemen.

I always viewed this episode as an important piece to answer the questions raised in the series. Some of the obvious questions are related to Inga and Shinjurou directly. How did Inga and Shinjurou meet? How did Shinjurou end up having to feed Inga souls? Who is the mysterious blonde girl and her role in Shinjurou and Inga’s relationship? This surprisingly short movie resolved the questions I had and provided a little more.

UN-GO: Final Round of Thoughts

UN-GO started off with a case so unimpressive that it turned away most viewers seeking for a season filled with mystery case files. As we all know it, first impression is important in helping anime fans to make their choices in a season full of  exciting titles. Sadly, UN-GO didn’t quite make the cut for a lot of people. However, for those who chose to stick around a while longer were rewarded with something much more exciting than the first case.

UN-GO Episode 11: I’m Just Searching

Following the invitation card Shinjurou received supposedly from Kaishou Rinroku, he attended the party along with other invited guests. Some of the suspects were also present. So this is it, the final showdown. Once again, the case is not in any way challenging and the direction the mystery was taking was quite obvious from the beginning. Just as long you keep in mind Bettenou’s power is at play, it’s really easy to figure out who’s the actual culprit.

UN-GO Episode 9: Rinroku Kaishou’s Crime

I was half expecting an episode with Shinjurou still within the four walls of prison, but in fact he was out and about tracking down the whereabouts of Bettenou. The novelist is history, or so it appears to be. While Shinjurou was occupied with the hunt, an explosion at a TV station has left an injured Kaishou Rinroku unable to defend himself as he was accused of being the mastermind behind the said explosion.  Rie, Rinroku’s daughter, enlisted the help of Shinjurou to prove his innocence.

UN-GO Episode 8: The King of Paradise

Kazamori to the rescue! Okay, maybe she didn’t exactly solve the case or anything but she’s been a huge help in bringing Shinjurou back to reality. Now that he’s back to his senses, it’s show time baby. It turns out there is a real murder to solve. It wasn’t some kind of fantasy I thought it was. The victim was the same person, except that he is not a movie director but a prison guard.

UN-GO Episode 7: Daydream

Right, how do I start this? It’s a very interesting episode I would say. It’s like a total 180 degree change from our usual normal episodes. Okay, let’s begin by how this week’s episode started off where last week’s episode left off. That way, we’ll get a complete look at where we’re going with this. If you’re a follower of Un-Go, then you’ll know about the novelist and the mysterious girl from last episode. Apparently, they did something to Shinjurou and as the episode title suggested, he’s probably trapped inside a delusional world or something.

UN-GO Episode 6: The Code Too Simple

Yajima, a victim of New Information Privacy and Protection Act I would say, enlisted the help of our great detective Shinjurou to find out why his personal manuscript ended up in between pages of one of Kaishou Rinroku’s book. I don’t know about you, but the fact that Rinroku’s name was mentioned amidst all the mystery is good enough to win my full attention. And it was well invested.

UN-GO Episode 5: The Phantom Statue

Trojan horse style, two former members of the Rising Sun Party planned to sneak into Shimada Hakurou’s place for a night to find the location of the rumored gold bricks exchanged from donations collected from Hakurou’s petty, heroic story of the death of three young men. Unfortunately, the mission was never accomplished. They were found dead. Hakurou, leader of the Rising Sun Party and the man accused of lining his own pockets, was the main suspect.

UN-GO Episode 4: House, Unmasked

Pardon me for my untimely post on UN-GO’s fourth episode. After almost a week since the episode aired, finally here are my thoughts on the concluding episode for Kazamori’s case. The case ended with a surprise announcement (on my part) when the first part was aired two weeks ago so I was eager to find out just what in the world is happening.  Last week’s episode revealed yet another unexpected factor, or rather player, in Kazamori’s case.
